Search services and support for migrants

We offer provision for 16-23 year olds with courses for ESOL, maths (GCSE / Functional English), English (GCSE / Functional English), IT, work skills and tutorials. The course can be started at any time during the year. We cover pre-entry to level 2 for ESOL with options for accreditation.
At Riverside College we offer ESOL courses from entry 1 to level 2 with options to study in the day or evening. Lessons are once a weeks and 2.5hrs long. You will also have access to weekly conversation clubs (2 hours) and study hubs (2 hours). This course is about developing speaking, listening, reading & writing skills in English for people whose first language is not English. We offer fun, motivating lessons which aim to build confidence in students to deal with every-day situations. The focus is on developing practical, useful skills which will encourage students to communicate effectively. If students pass the exam, they will receive a certificate which can enhance job opportunities. The exam has three parts: reading, writing and speaking and listening. You can take one, or all three depending on your ability. If you study with us you will need to do an initial interview and assessment to assess speaking, listening, reading & writing skills. The course is free if you have lived in the UK for 3 years or have an appropriate visa/status for funding. You will need to meet a set of guidelines for the course to be free, if you do not meet the guidelines then a fee will apply – please enquire to check or send us an email.
Bolton College provides learning for Adults and Young People. We offer a broad range of courses across various central and community venues, supporting learners to gain skills for employment, career advancement, Maths & English and personal goals through accredited courses as well as non-accredited. The ESOL Adult Provision at Bolton College employs a successful and flexible curriculum- delivering ESOL, Maths and Digital Skills the curriculum enables our learners to successfully integrate into their local communities, engage socially and gives them the language skills necessary to further their education, enter employment or progress their career. We deliver all levels of ESOL; from Pre-Entry, Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1. As an ESOL learner with Bolton College you are supported with your English, Maths, Digital skills and Employability Skills. You will also have access to our Job Shop where you can receive support in writing job applications, writing a CV, applying for jobs and building your interview skills. We provide ESOL classes to 16-18 and 19+ learners. In addition, we also offer enrichment and employability opportunities to help integrate learners into the community and provide motivation to progress in the future. Covering the four main skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, learners will gain nationally recognised qualifications in English language, with optional units on computing and maths skills. In addition, they will learn about UK culture and take part in events to celebrate their own. They’ll also take part in activities to develop job interview skills, and develop the confidence to live, study and work in the UK successfully. We enrich the lives of our learners whilst they are studying with us by developing their skills, knowledge and behaviours. Enrichment is integral to the department and we offer the learners employability skills which are referred to in lessons, extra sessions, on display boards and through events.
