We can offer limited support (The Red Cross service on Tuesdays should be your first port of call). We offer a free lunch, sometimes have free sim cards, and can give very limited support with specific issues – contacting the local MP for example.
This community support group had been created since the war in the Ukraine. Where refugees can receive some advice, communicate and share their experience. Meet for social events and workshops. In addition there was a need for a children’s talking club to help them to maintain the mother tongue.
From the ‘Ukraine Unit’ we receive donations from the public, community organisations, etc from across the North West. Here the donations are organised and packed and sent to Ukraine. We also act as a meeting area of members from the “Chorley & District Support for Ukraine” group and also acts as a meeting place and volunteering opportunity for our Guests from Ukraine. We also provide items for the current homes of our Guests from Ukraine. The availability of what we offer depends on what has been donated and what is still available in the unit at the time of visiting. Most activities of this group are coordinated using the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1121686242002113
