The Community Harmony Project can help you to build your life and fit in with the local community.
They can guide you and help you to belong.
There is a free Community Café, and English class on Wednesdays from 11.30am to 1.30pm. This is at the Quakers Meeting Place on Paradise Street in Blackburn.

If English is not your first language, you can take a course to help you improve your English language skills. You can gain a qualification at the end of your learning. These qualifications offer the first steps in helping build your knowledge of the English language and will allow you to live more independently in the UK. Courses are all held in the community at various locations.
All learners will be offered an assessment prior to joining the course. It is important we find out your current skill level so we can start you off on the right course.Our courses will help you to:
- Feel more confident in the community
- Move onto other courses or training
- Progress into work
- Support your children with their school work
- Become independent with everyday life activities

Darwen Asylum Refugee Enterprise (DARE) provides a drop-in service for the local refugee and asylum seeker community. It takes place every Wednesday from 9am to 1.30pm in the Central United Reformed Church on Duckworth Street, Darwen BB3 1AT.
DARE’s English Club meets every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm. Volunteers offer support to learners to improve their spoken English.
DARE volunteers provide other support services at the weekly drop-ins including health, housing and employment support.
At BwD Adult Learning we run ESOL courses, amongst many other learning opportunities, from our two main centres together with a range of Community Venues, including Bangor Street Community Centre.
We offer courses from Pre-Entry to Entry 3 both accredited and non-accredited.
