Coffee Bar offers a welcoming, accessible & supportive space to all; a warm, inclusive, non-judgmental space where people can find community, make friends, receive practical and pastoral care, be connected with other services or simply enjoy a hot drink and some food. We provide hot and cold refreshments, good conversation and a very popular crafts & activities table. Steve, our Pastoral Support Worker & Coffee Bar Coordinator, is supported by an experienced team of friendly volunteers, including Cantonese speakers who can welcome and support members of the Hong Kong Community. This community support group had been created since the war in the Ukraine. Where refugees can receive some advice, communicate and share their experience. Meet for social events and workshops. In addition there was a need for a children’s talking club to help them to maintain the mother tongue.
From the ‘Ukraine Unit’ we receive donations from the public, community organisations, etc from across the North West. Here the donations are organised and packed and sent to Ukraine. We also act as a meeting area of members from the “Chorley & District Support for Ukraine” group and also acts as a meeting place and volunteering opportunity for our Guests from Ukraine. We also provide items for the current homes of our Guests from Ukraine. The availability of what we offer depends on what has been donated and what is still available in the unit at the time of visiting. Most activities of this group are coordinated using the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1121686242002113
