ESOL will improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Boost your English skills which may help you find work.

These courses are for EU residents, refugees or asylum seekers whose first language is not English. We will assess your level of English before you enrol on the course. We offer ESOL for school leavers/16 – 18yr olds as well as adult courses. You must demonstrate at interview that you are able to commit to a full programme of study with 100% attendance and complete your work.

PAE is a British Council English language school in Preston, Lancashire. We provide English language learning services to students from all over the world at various levels. For ESOL we cover pre-entry to level 2 (with accreditation if wanted) and IELTS. Monday to Friday – 9.00 – 12.15 – General English/ESOL Monday to Thursday – 12.45 – 2.15 – Speaking skills Monday to Thursday – 12.45 – 2.15 – IELTS and other exam preparation courses
We offer informal English lessons to asylum seekers and refugees in the Preston area. We cater for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. Learning in small groups there is always someone to help. We also offer general help, support and pastoral care. A great place to feel welcome and make friends. We also have lunch together after lessons! Classes are every Tuesday 10.00 am – 1pm throughout the year. Please just come to the classes, you don’t need to book.
RAIS is a local charity which provides advocacy, information and support services to refugees and asylum seekers living in Lancaster and Morecambe. All of our staff and volunteers have experience of helping asylum seekers and refugees in our city, and are committed to welcoming and supporting them. WHAT WE DO: Drop-in for information and support.  RAIS runs a twice-weekly drop-in for refugees and asylum seekers at The Cornerstone, Sulyard Street, Lancaster LA1 1PX on Mondays and Thursdays from 3.00 until 5.00 p.m. We also have a drop-in in Morecambe at Bare Methodist Church, Seaborn Road, Morecambe LA4 6BB on Fridays from 2.30 until 4.30 p.m. At the drop-ins, we can explain official correspondence from the Home Office and other agencies. We can provide information on matters including housing, benefits, employment, education, family reunion and applying for indefinite leave to remain. We will refer or signpost to other professional agencies for advice where appropriate. All enquiries and any information given to us are treated in the strictest confidence. We never pass on information to other people or agencies without the enquirer’s permission. Our immigration solicitor, Susan Liew is available for legal advice. Advocacy and additional support We can provide advocacy for refugees in dealing with various agencies and organisations. Our volunteers can accompany people to appointments, and help with form-filling, applications etc. If you think we can help then come to the drop-in, call the Helpline, or contact us via our website.
These courses are run at Haslingden Library , twice a week with a qualified tutor. They are held in the town centre so on all local transport links. The courses are offered as unaccredited and anyone can join even if they attend provision elsewhere. Course timetable: ESOL for Life and Work Beginners (entry 1/ entry 2): Monday & Thursday 9.30am – 12pm ESOL for Life and work Pre-entry: Monday and Thursday 12.30pm – 3pm To join the course please attend at the start of one of the class times and enrol with the tutor.
This is a beginners ESOL for Life and Work course which is available to anyone who is currently studying ESOL with other providers as a top up or those who want are not currently attending any other provision. The course is from pre-entry to entry 1 with workshop style activities for those who are more like an entry 2 level. Once there is enough people attending the group will be split and the more advanced learners will get their own classes. The tutor is fully qualified and differentiates the lessons to provide learning for all attendees. The courses timetable is; Tuesday and Friday 10am – 1.30pm If you would like to join please attend the classroom on the 2nd floor of the library and speak to the tutor who will enrol you. The course starts on Tuesday 31st October 2023.
