RSMP Weekly Round Up #2

Welcome to the second edition of our Weekly Round Up! Here you’ll find a range of timely updates and goings on from across the region. This week we have training, funding, job opportunities and more! If you have anything that you would like to share across the region, to all partners, please send to [email protected]. We will continue to share specific information relating to our various areas of work with scheme specific partners in addition.

 

Directory Refresh: 

  • The RSMP website has an online directory under it’s Find a Service page. Whilst we try to keep the information up to date, please have a look and let us know through this form if we need to amend/delete/add anything further to your organisation’s information.

 

Nominations for the New Year 2027 Honours round: 

  • MHCLG is inviting councils to submit nominations for the New Year Honours list which will be published at the end of December 2026.
  • MHCLG is keen to receive nominations for those who have made exceptional contributions in Refugee Resettlement, particularly Hong Kong BNO, Ukraine and Afghan resettlement.
  • Nominations can be made for staff at any level who you think deserve (and would want) an honour, this includes those working tirelessly often for very little in our voluntary sector.
  • The North West has a proud record of supporting migrants settling in our region and it would be wonderful to see that recognised.

Community Cohesion Guidance for Local Authorities: 

  • Commissioned by MHCLG the Belong Network, in partnership with the GA have developed cohesion guidance for LA’s

 

MHCLG Homelessness Funding for the VCS: 

  • This fund is available for VCFS organisations with a maximum turnover of £5m, to increase community-based support, transform existing day support offers and support individuals to live independently and prevent them from returning to rough sleeping

 

Faith and Security Training: 

  • Funded by the Home Office, and delivered by CDS Support (a specialist defence and security consultancy), this training provides practical guidance to keep places of worship safe and resilient – Faith Security Training
  • The event is targeted at faith leaders, trustees, volunteers, and anyone responsible for, or interested, in security at places of worship.

Healing Classrooms – Open University Course: 

  • IRC UK has partnered with the Open University to develop a self-paced Healing Classrooms Course for practitioners to access for free. The Healing Classrooms Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course is suitable for education staff supporting students from refugee backgrounds. It covers key topics equipping staff to confidently support students, utilising our trauma-informed approach.
