Regional Conference on Unaccompanied Children and Young Refugees

The North West Regional Strategic Migration Partnership is hosting it’s first conference on Unaccompanied Children & Young Refugees on 5th June 2024 (Wednesday) from 9:30 AM to 4:30PM in Manchester United Football Stadium, Old Trafford.

The conference aims to bring together key stakeholders working with and supporting Unaccompanied Children and Young Refugees in the North West- including local authorities, fostering and accommodation services, lived experience panellists, VCSEs and other key agencies) to discuss key topics and thematic issues impacting on delivery of services, and share experiences, reflections and good practice in supporting Unaccompanied Children and Young Refugees.

This timely event will provide an opportunity for our speakers to scrutinise national policy and legislative framing in terms of the refugee and migrant sector and implications for supporting and safeguarding Unaccompanied Children. It will also enable stakeholders to share best practice on how to improve the experience of Unaccompanied Children in the care of our local authorities.

The event will consist of specialist Guest speakers, workshops, young person’s panel, and information stalls.

Themes including but are not limited to: Health and culture, education, age dispute, Post 18 accommodation and housing, Illegal Migration Act 2023, UASC Panel; Local Authority Best Practice and others.
