NEW ANNOUNCEMENT: MHCLG Announce Recipients of Grant Funding

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) have announced the recipients of two grants to deliver support to BN(O) visa holders in England.

Employment Support

MHCLG has announced that the Growth Company has been funded to deliver employment support to BN(O) visa holders in England for 6-months.

Jobs for Hongkongers is an 8 week programme of support that BN(O) visa holders, who live in England, can access to receive employability support in Cantonese from a dedicated support worker.

The support worker will offer them information, advice and guidance in CV writing, effective strategies for job searching in the UK, identifying priority sectors, mock job interviews and other support in group settings as well as one to one. The programme will also offer BN(O) visa holders the chance to access English conversation classes to improve their English and confidence.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

MHCLG has announced that Barnardo’s has been funded to deliver mental health and wellbeing support to BN(O) visa Holders in England for 6-months.

The programme will include:

  • Helpline support offering advice and emotional support via telephone and email
  • therapeutic support for children and adults, including couples counselling
  • a virtual Youth Space for children age 10-13 and 14-17
  • regional Peer support networks
  • Virtual Family Space resources – This online resource in Cantonese contains information on a range of topics which are particularly aimed at the challenges encountered by families
  • monthly webinars with a focus on mental health and wellbeing
  • 4 in-person events across England
  • volunteering opportunities for Hongkongers
