Organisations Funded to Support with the Transition to eVisa

The government is replacing physical immigration documents, like BRP cards, with an eVisa. An eVisa is digital proof of immigration status that can be accessed online and shows the conditions of your permission to enter or stay in the UK. Anyone who has a physical document to prove their immigration status will need to set up an eVisa account before 31/12/2024. Applying for an eVisa does not affect a person’s underlying immigration status.

A physical document could include:

  • biometric residence permits (BRP)
  • biometric residence cards (BRC)
  • Wet ink stamps in passports (known as passport endorsements)
  • vignette stickers in passports (entry clearance or visa vignettes)

What action is needed?
People who have physical immigration documents need to create a UKVI account (GOV.UK) to access their eVisa.

eVisa Community Support (GOV.UK) is available for anyone who needs help creating their UKVI account and accessing their eVisa. A number of organisations have been commissioned to deliver support in the North West. Further information is available on our eVisa page.
