Community groups
Community groups play an incredibly important role in local life across communities in the North West. Often known as Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise groups (VCFSE), they often operate on a voluntary basis and can work to support specific groups or the community as a whole.
Community groups may offer services, classes, workshops, or just places for people to meet and interact with one another. They are often funded by donations or through grants from Government or businesses.
For migrant communities, community groups can support you to integrate into your local community. They can help you with your English language, support you to find work or celebrate your native culture with you. You can also choose to volunteer or work for a local group as a way to ‘give back’ to your community. Volunteering can be a great way to develop skills that could help you secure employment, or to further help your integration journey.
There are many ways to get in touch with community groups across the North West, including speaking with your council, asking at your local college, or you can see a list and map of community groups in the North West here: Find our Services page.
