Blackburn College offers a range of courses and qualifications for young people over the age of 16 years, and adults. Our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses can help you improve your English. ESOL qualifications are designed to help you develop the skills you use in everyday life. They can also help you boost your CV or move on to further study. The courses cover speaking and listening, reading and writing, gaining vocabulary as well as all aspects of punctuation and grammar. Taking an ESOL qualification can help you: – With employment – Talk to doctors and teachers – Support your child with their homework – Understand the customs of the UK – Pass the Life in the UK test and become a British citizen
Each class provides English grammar lessons, reading and comprehension lessons, conversation opportunities and vocabulary training. The classes also assist with cultural adaptation and practical customs.
Non-accredited Pre-Entry courses to help people learn to read, write and speak in English. Accredited courses, from Entry 1 to Level 1, to help people learn to read, write and speak in English and gain qualifications. Non-accredited courses offered to learners on either of the above courses to enhance well-being , improve interaction and develop language skills. These are led by demand and uptake and vary from term-to-term. Examples include Conversation, Phonics, Spelling, Walk and Talk, Budgeting, Driving Theory support, Grammar & Horticulture.
