Search services and support for migrants

British Red Cross Refugee Support  helps people seeking asylum, refugees and other migrants on various issues including adjusting to life in a new country through casework support. The session offers the opportunity for people to meet new people and chat over hot drinks and snacks. People can be helped with the following:
  • Healthcare access and advice
  • English lessons information
  • Advice on community integration activities
  • Information and advice on the asylum process
  • Information on legal support
  • Move-on support
  • Family reunion
  • Family tracing
Wirral Multicultural Organisation (WMO) is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Its purpose offer a range of professional and culturally sensitive services to improve the overall health and wellbeing for all people from Ethnic Minority backgrounds. A key focus is to support more vulnerable people from Ethnic Minority backgrounds. by providing language support, advocacy, social support and activities, assistance to access primary care services and including advice and education services.
Our general English courses focus on speaking and listening, grammar, reading and writing. They help to equip learners for everyday life and situations as well as providing grammatical information at the appropriate level. Students will be entered for the Trinity speaking and listening exam at their level at the end of the course. Our courses are fully streamed and available at A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels. Our Cambridge exam courses directly prepare learners for their exam, at either FCE or CAE level. They are intensive and focused but flexible in meeting students’ everyday needs too. We also offer a Life Skills course which deals with everyday situations and focuses on requests from learners. We have an A1/2 group and a B1/B1+ group. All courses are for 4 hours a week for 15 weeks and the costs include exam fees. All courses are delivered by qualified and experienced ESOL tutors.
WEA is a charity that offers courses for adults in local communities and online. Learn new skills, improve your English, explore arts and crafts and more.  WEA courses are held all over the UK in lots of locations and they offer a wide range of free short (e.g 1-4 month) ESOL courses – please go onto their website to check current course information and to enrol.
Our ESOL courses are suitable for students whose first language is not English. Perhaps you are a complete beginner or already have a basic knowledge of the language. If you have moved to the UK from overseas, are seeking asylum, or are classified as a refugee, you may be referred for this course from the local council or other institutions. The course covers several levels in English, from complete beginners up to level 2. We offer general ESOL as a part-time course and serving up English – a relaxed café based 10 week course where you volunteer in a café and improve your English. There are women only ESOL classes at two centres which have creches for children:
  • Toxteth Tabernacle, Park Road, Toxteth, Liverpool, L8 8AN – Wed/Fri.
  • Earle Road Hub, 140 Earle Road, Liverpool, L7 6HH – Tues/Thurs.
Classes run in term time only. There is also a donations room where woman can choose pre-loved clothes for themselves and their  families.
At the City of Liverpool College, iff your first language is not English, our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses will help to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. As your language skills improve, you will gain confidence and find it easier to live, work and study in the UK. You will study throughout the year and at a time to fit in with your work and home commitments. There are no formal entry requirements but you will be asked to complete an initial assessment so that you can begin your studies at the right level. Many courses are FREE, and are taught by a team of dedicated language specialists. We offer ESOL for 16-18yrs olds and adults and you will gain a city and guilds qualification at the end of your course.
