“Knowsley FACE is the Council’s adult education provider. We offer a range of courses including accredited and non accredited provision. We deliver our courses across a range of Knowsley Centres for Learning, libraries, primary schools and community venues.
Our courses are predominately evening provision within the Centres for Learning. Our daytime provision is delivered in Children’s Centre’s, community venues, primary schools (Family Learning courses) and Knowsley Libraries.”
At St, Helens College, our free courses can help you if English is your second language and you are living or planning to settle in the UK. Our courses are offered at entry 1 – level 2 to improve your English language skills including reading and writing. They can also help you to progress on to other courses.
You will become part of our College community – a safe space to learn, be supported and thrive, where you can seek advice and support at our weekly drop-in centre, take part in a range of activities such as yoga, arts and music workshops and boxing or even join our refugee football team, Hope United FC.
Courses follow the national ESOL Skills for Life curriculum and you will be taught all four skills of language: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
They are designed to help you improve your level of English, to get more out of your life in the UK and to make it easier to:
-
- talk to doctors, teachers, bank or shop assistants
- fill in administrative forms
- understand laws and customs
- help your children with homework
- study or train for a qualification
- look for employment or apply for citizenship
At Liverpool Adult Learning, we deliver accessible, high quality, ESOL courses for adults over 19 years old, many of which are free of charge. You will need to complete a skills check before you join.
Our functional skills courses include qualifications and are about using literacy skills in everyday life and work. You will be entered for a qualification at the correct level – up to Level 2 – and these qualifications may prepare you to take a GCSE course next. (Higher than Level 2 Functional Skills, this qualification is for more advanced learners. You must pass the skills check to join this course. We can offer you other courses if you are not ready for GCSE.)
