AAWAZ is a voluntary sector organisation and registered charity which was formed by Asian women in 1997. The name AAWAZ mean “Voice” in Urdu and is the “voice” of Asian women across Lancashire and nationally. The charity’s work revolves around the principle of self-help, equipping women and families to learn to help themselves, so that the culture of dependency can be broken down. Through its work, a better understanding between communities has been achieved which is aiding integration and harmony. AAWAZ on average engages with over 300 women a week who all have different needs, but the main thrust of its work is still with women who wish to learn English, to enable them to help themselves and their families. Stockport City of Sanctuary provides support and advocacy for refugees and sanctuary seekers, fostering inclusion, dignity, and community connection. We offer practical assistance, educational workshops, and collaborative events to build understanding and create a welcoming environment for all.
We offer classes for adults aged 19+ who do not have English as their first language. We run courses from Beginners to Level 2. These classes are exam classes, and you will be entered for exams when your tutor feels you are ready.  These classes can help you with finding a job, being part of our community and teach you employability skills. We also run tailored learning courses that do not have an exam. The tailored learning courses can prepare you for starting an exam course or if you are looking to improve your English for daily life, then these are the courses for you. We host an English Cafe every Weds 10am – 2pm for people that are new to the UK. Its a friendly environment to speak and learn English, play games, have a coffee and explore our resources. Just turn up, no need to register or book!

We offer informal English lessons to asylum seekers and refugees in the Preston area. We cater for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. Learning in small groups there is always someone to help. We also offer general help, support and pastoral care. A great place to feel welcome and make friends. We also have lunch together after lessons! Classes are every Tuesday 10.00 am – 1pm throughout the year. Please just come to the classes, you don’t need to book.
EQUAL EDUCATION CHANCES is a charity organisation founded in 2017. We support families raising a disabled child. We promote youth social action. Offer empowerment opportunities to adults and advocate for migrants who are seeking school places, jobs or disability support.
