Search services and support for migrants

Caritas is responding by providing a safe space with advice, support and friendship at the Well Project. ESOL classes at St. Aidens Centre are on Tuesdays 11am – 13pm and there is a women’s ESOL and craft group every Thursday at 10:30am – 12:30pm. Children are welcome at the women’s group. Steered To Serve is an organisation that render community services to both the young and old in areas of Cultural education, Educational support services, Residential care activities for learning difficulties, mental health and substance abuse. We also support activities for religious organisations.
Sefton Libraries, in partnership with other organisations, offer a cultural landing point for any members of the community both new and old. Aside from the expected provision of books, computers and printers, we offer a range of activities and workshops.
We are developing a programme of drop-in advice sessions as well as creative and language learning sessions for sanctuary seekers in Bootle Library and Netherton Library.
We also offer a range of activities for children and young people as well as adults.
You can also access digital services, such as tablet loans, free data on SIM cards, and language learning software.
Overall Sefton Libraries aim to be a welcoming and relaxed space for anyone to work, learn or socialise.
Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit offer free legal advice, representation and support services to refugees and people seeking asylum across Greater Manchester & Merseyside. GMIAU also run an All4One Group for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. GMIAU run an advice line advice which operates on Mondays & Fridays from 9:30am to 1pm, and on Wednesdays from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
We are a small Community Centre based in a church hall. We offer adult learning; exercise and other activities for adults and children; and community events. Our Community Hub provides emergency food and fuel top-ups, refers to local food banks, etc. and signposts to other sources of support, as well as hosting Citizens Advice. We are proud of our reputation as a place where everyone in our community is welcomed Our ESOL classes are for pre-entry to entry 3 level. There is a waiting list to join an ESOL course at the moment do please email to be added to the list if you wish. Class times:
  • Monday ESOL Conversation – 13 – 14.30pm, term time only.
  • ESOL and Employability – Tuesdays 10-12am.
  • ESOL and Wellbeing – Fridays 10-12am.
  • Discover Manchester ESOL Conversation – Fridays 10-11.30 term time only.
Fair Futures works with children, young people and families to promote successful learning and reduce barriers to education for children and families.​ Fair Futures provides educational and social opportunities for people from minoritised communities in Bury, Greater Manchester, and surrounding areas, promoting participation in a cohesive community.​Fair Futures also supports children and families from around the world who have come to Greater Manchester as refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.​Our organisation promotes equality, equity and diversity and runs activities to promote shared understanding between people from different backgrounds.
We work with individuals from over 35+ countries around the world living away from their homeland, providing them with support, skills and knowledge to live and prosper in the UK. Our wide range of services includes English language classes, employment workshops, a women’s support group, a Saturday school and homework club, youth and family support services, drop-in and telephone advice, volunteer placements, and cultural and social events. We provide outreach and visits to individuals and families in detention. We also work in Afghanistan, where we are developing citizen advice centres in Kabul and Pul-e-Khumri, following a successful pilot project from 2013–2016. They will offer free, impartial and confidential advice, information, support and legal aid on issues including education, employment and domestic violence.
