A new series of ESOL Continuing Professional Development (CPD) webinars is now available for teachers, volunteers and anyone working within the ESOL sector who would like to deepen their understanding of key themes that influence teaching, learning and learner success.
The webinars have been designed to provide practitioners with opportunities to engage with current research, explore theory-informed practice and reflect on approaches that can support learners more effectively. Covering topics that are increasingly relevant across the sector, the sessions aim to support professional growth while helping practitioners create inclusive, supportive and learner-centred environments.
The 2025 webinar programme covers four important areas:
17 September | 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Explore the concept of emotional labour in teaching, its impact on wellbeing, and practical strategies for maintaining professional resilience while supporting learners.
29 October | 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Examine the causes and effects of foreign language anxiety and consider approaches that can help learners build confidence and participate more fully in the classroom.
26 November | 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Discover how classroom culture, relationships and teaching practices can contribute to a supportive learning environment where learners feel safe, respected and motivated.
10 December | 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Develop a greater understanding of neurodiversity in ESOL settings and explore inclusive approaches that help neurodivergent learners thrive.
The webinars are open to practitioners at all stages of their careers and provide an opportunity to engage with topical issues that affect both learners and teaching professionals alike.
For those unable to attend live, all webinars are recorded and uploaded to our website (click the ESOL section then ESOL Teachers and Volunteers then ESOL Teacher webinar series) and our YouTube channel. Alongside the presentation, there are further readings and additional resources, allowing practitioners to access the content at a time that suits them and revisit key learning points.
If you are not currently receiving invitations to these webinars and would like to be added to the ESOL mailing list, please contact [email protected].
We look forward to welcoming colleagues from across the ESOL community to these engaging and thought-provoking professional development sessions.
