The mission of the Group is to support Hong Kong mothers who have arrived in the UK via the British National (Overseas) (BN(O)) visa scheme, particularly those facing challenges with integration, including identity crises, loneliness, isolation, and changes in family roles and dynamics.
The Group aims to:
1)Use the lived experience of BN(O) mothers to provide support to them and their families.
2)Foster connections with the wider community, enhancing cultural understanding and social cohesion.
3)Promote mental well-being and reduce social isolation through creative activities, specifically using the arts-based methodology of ethnodrama.
4)Document, preserve, and share the stories of BN(O) mothers through publications, exhibitions, community events, and live performances.
5)Strengthen social bonds, inspire future generations, and create a supportive, solidary space for BN(O) mothers in the UK.

Bringing people together through cooking, making, sharing, eating, celebrating food & developing English language skills.
Heart & Parcel was founded in Manchester, England in 2015 by two friends with a love of food and the connections and relationships surrounding it. Over the years, Heart & Parcel has grown to a wider family of learners, volunteers and staff who all support and contribute to the project in their own ways. We work with people learning English to recognise, celebrate and develop their existing rich skills and knowledge, so they can communicate confidently and live fulfilling lives. We do this by supporting learners to flourish in their local communities and forge connections by developing English language and communication skills through the medium of food… mainly dumplings! We deliver FREE English language classes by cooking recipes together, talking about food and eating together. Improve your English in a fun and relaxed environment! We have classes for the over 50’s, a writing class and more, please email or call for more information.
Is English not your first language – or is a language barrier getting in your way? Our ESOL courses will help improve your writing, reading, speaking and listening skills, as well as enhancing your maths and business knowledge.
Our specialist English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) team are experts at giving our students confidence when conversing and engaging with others in English. They understand the challenges our non-native English speaking students face – as both students and aspiring professionals. They will develop close working relationships with you and take great pride in developing your skills. Our ESOL faculty offers courses that focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to help you progress. We run specific courses at Level 1 combining ESOL with Business, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care and Construction.
Please enquire for further information.
