Remembrance Day

In November, red poppies will appear in shops and on people’s clothing as the United Kingdom observes Remembrance Day.

Throughout the month, we honour the lives that were lost in service of the country and thank the Armed Forces of Britain and the Commonwealth.

Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, has been observed every year since 1919 with a two-minute silence at 11am on 11th November.

The occasion is also marked on the second Sunday of November, known as Remembrance Sunday, with a minute’s silence at 11am. This year, Remembrance Sunday falls on 14th November.
