EU Settlement Scheme Update – less than 6 months to apply
Over 4.88 million applications have been made to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) according to the latest monthly statistics. The figures show that, up to the end of December 2020: 4.88 million applications were received 4.49 million applications were concluded Across the UK, 4.41 million applications were received from England, 243,600 applications from Scotland, 80,700 applications from Wales and 78,500 received from Northern Ireland 2,422,100 (54%) were granted settled status and 1,936,500 (43%) were granted pre-settled status, thus showing more than 4.35 million grants of status Of the remaining applications, 47,400 (1%) received a withdrawn or void outcome, 49,100 (1%) were invalid and 33,700 (0.8%) were refused.
Joining family members Eligible close family members who were living overseas at the end of the transition period have the right to join an EEA or Swiss citizen in the UK and apply to the EUSS at any point in the future, provided: the EEA or Swiss citizen has successfully applied to the scheme their relationship existed by 31 December 2020 (except in the case of children who are born or adopted after 31 December 2020) and continues to exist at the time that family member seeks to come to the UK. “Close family member” means a spouse or civil partner, durable partner, dependent parent, or child, including one born or adopted after 31 December 2020.
